“Broker”. Lee Jieun. IU cursing [MOVIE]
Lee Ji-eun revealed the behind-the-scenes story of her abusive acting.
The press distribution meeting of the movie “Broker” (director Hirokazu Koreeda/production film house) was held at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the 31st. Director Hirokazu Koreeda and actors Song Kang-ho, Kang Dong-won, Lee Ji-eun and Lee Ju-young attended.
“Broker” depicts the unexpected and special journey of those who became involved with Baby Box.
Lee Ji-eun plays the role of So-young, the mother of a baby in a baby box. Above all, Lee Ji-eun acted abusive language for the first time in this work.
On this day, Lee Jieun said, “The director is Japanese, so it was a little different from Korean curses. I asked if I could add my opinion on Korean-style cursing because it felt like Japanese-style curses, but the director told me to do it freely, so I thought a lot about it and made up lines focusing on the most representative curses in Korea,” he said.
He added, “It was one of the scenes where I practiced a lot and was nervous before filming because it was the first time I acted directly while I was active, but fortunately, the other actors were angry and did well in a shorter take than I expected.”
In response, Song Kang-ho praised, “I knew he was such an excellent actor because I’ve seen great acting in numerous dramas such as My Mister, but I didn’t know he would do so well.”
“Especially, the scene I like a little more is the next scene,” he said adding, “I failed to make a deal and got in a van, but I don’t know what to do, and I kick the front seat when I talk carefully, such as eating crabs to break the awkward atmosphere. It’s Lee Ji-eun’s impromptu acting. We were really surprised. The reaction came out of itself. There are many good scenes of Lee Ji-eun, but I especially like Bongo-shin very much,” he explained.
“Broker,” in which Song Kang-ho won the Best Actor Award at the Cannes International Film Festival for the first time as a Korean male actor, will be released on June 8.
