China asks game companies to cooperate with “Minors’ Game Regulations
The Chinese government once again stressed that game-related companies in China should implement the regulations on minor games.
China’s state-run Shinhwa News Agency reported on the 9th (local time) that officials related to the Chinese Communist Party’s central propaganda and national newspaper publishing summoned various game companies, game account rental platforms, and video game live streaming platforms on the 8th.
Earlier on the 30th of last month, China’s National Newspaper Publication put forward strong measures related to the time limit for minors to play games. Teenagers under the age of 18 will be able to play online games only on Fridays, weekends, and holidays for an hour from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. local time. Here, regulators asked for cooperation from game companies.
However, CCTV in China reported on the 6th that minors can rent adult authentication accounts for gameplay and purchase accounts for 33 yuan. In other words, it was revealed that some minors used this method to bypass the supervision of the game play time limit.안전놀이터
The Chinese government’s action to summon game companies on the 8th seems to be due to these concerns.
At the meeting, regulators stressed, “All game companies must strictly enforce the announced matters, and when providing online games to minors, the game time limit should be strictly enforced.”
He then said, “In any way, minors should not be provided with online game account rental and transaction services.”
In addition, regulators said, “We will soon launch a reporting platform that prevents minors from indulging in online games to receive and process clues in a timely manner,” adding, “We will severely punish companies that do not implement it to prevent minors from overindulgence in games.”
