(G)I-DLE’s Minnie has been criticized for her unconventional low-rise outfit, saying, “It’s just fashion.” vs. “Sentimental.
(G)I-DLE Minnie unconventional outfit is a hot potato online.
Recently, a video of the stage of (G)I-DLE’s VR concert “For NEVERLAND” was posted on PICO XR Korea YouTube and (G)I-DLE’s official YouTube channel. The VR concert is a system that allows the audience to experience a vivid sense of realism at a 360-degree viewing angle and enjoy the concert in front of their eyes, such as waving their cheering sticks.
In the released video, (G)I-DLE attracted fans’ attention by performing various hit songs. The performance ended successfully, but controversy later spread through the online community. It’s because of the low-rise pants that the members wore on “My Bag” stage.
Minnie, Soyeon, and Miyeon wore lowrise costumes. Lowrise means pelvic pants, which are worn between the belly button and the pelvis. In 2009, Kara made headlines for wearing low-rise clothes during her “Mr.” activities, and recently, there was a resurgence in fashion as foreign luxury brands such as Jang Won-young, Jenny, and Yoona wore them.
However, as Minnie’s bold low-rise fashion is being overly sensational and the position that it is just fashion is at odds with each other, the debate is expected to continue.
