Rafael Nadal lost his first return match in two months and confirmed eight players in the ATP Finals
Rafael Nadal (2nd, Spain) was eliminated in the first round of the official tournament in about two months.
Nadal lost 1-2 (6-3 6-7 <4-7> 1-6) to Tommy Paul (31st, USA) in the second round of the singles finals on the third day of the men’s ATP Tour Rolex Paris Masters (total prize money of 5,415,410 euros) in Paris, France, on the 2nd (local time).
Nadal, who lost to Francis Tiapo (21st, USA) in the round of 16 at the U.S. Open in September, failed to cross the wall of the second round after passing the first round by default in his return to the tournament. Since the U.S. Open, Nadal has made one appearance in this year’s Laver Cup, where Roger Federer (Switzerland) retired as an event. Nadal, who was on the court for the first time since he became a father in early October, could have become the world’s No. 1 player, depending on the performance of Carlos Alcaras (Spain), who is currently the world’s No. 1.
In the second round, Alcaras settled in the round of 16 after defeating Yoshihito Nishioka (38th, Japan), who won the ATP Tour Eugene Investment & Securities Korea Open in Seoul in early October, 2-0 (6-4 6-4). Alkaras will face Grigor Dimitrov (28th, Bulgaria) in the round of 16. 사설토토
Novak Djokovic (7th, Serbia) also advanced to the round of 16 and will compete with Karen Khachanov (19th, Russia) for the quarterfinals. Alkaras and Djokovic must reach the final before they can face off.
Eight players who will advance to the ATP Finals, the “King of Kings” of the season, have also been finalized. Nadal, Djokovic, Alcaras, Casper Rudd (Norway), Daniil Medvedev, Andrei Lublev (Russia), Felix Ozealiasim (Canada), and Stefanos Tsitsipas (Greece) were listed.
