Toronto Gausman AL Cy Young Award Nomination #2

Gausman

Kevin Gausman, a teammate of Ryu Hyun-jin (Toronto Blue Jays), ranked second as a candidate for the American League Cy Young Award.

MLB.com announced on the 19th (Korea Standard Time) that Gausman ranked second highest in the American League, announcing the results of a vote to select expected candidates for the Cy Young Award in the two major leagues.

A total of 70 baseball experts participated in the vote, and the rankings were determined by differentiating them with 5 points for the 1st place table, 4 points for the 2nd place, 3 points for the 3rd place, 4 points for the 4th place, and 1 point for the 5th place.

Gausman won a total of 23 first-place votes, ranking second behind Justin Verlander (Houston Astros, 1st-place 30).

Toronto signed a five-year, $110 million contract with Gausman to strengthen its starting lineup in the last stove league. MLB.com called the deal a success so far.

Gausman, who started the season as Toronto’s second starter, pitched in eight games and had a record of 3 wins, 3 losses, and a 2.52 ERA. He hit only one home run in 50 innings and gave up only three walks. There are as many as 19 strikeouts per walk.

“Last year, Toronto gave American League Cy Young Award winner Robbie Ray to the Seattle Mariners and hired Gausman as a substitute. So far, Gaussian has been playing very well, he said. “Since joining Toronto, he has struck out 45 strikeouts until he allowed his first walk.”

Two Toronto pitchers were selected as the top five, and fourth starter Alec Manoa ranked fourth.

MLB.com said of Manoa, “He’s one of the best rookies of last year and is becoming an elite starter in his second season. He has an ERA of 1.71 and an on-base percentage of 0.88 per inning, and is playing as a one-two punch with Gausman.”

Meanwhile, Corbyn Burns (Milhawk Brewers) was named the top candidate for the National League Cy Young Award at MLB.com. Pablo L마이pez (Miami Marlins), Max Scherzer (New York Mets), Carlos Rondon (San Francisco Giants), and Joe Musgrove (San Diego Padres) followed.
